Seneca Chamber recognizes Marilyn Seislove with Outstanding Educator Award
Tiffin, Ohio — The Seneca Regional Chamber of Commerce gathered with more than 225 guests at Heidelberg University’s Seiberling Gymnasium to celebrate the start of the school year and to welcome new educators to Seneca County.
During the Educators Appreciation Breakfast, the Chamber recognized Calvert Catholic Schools Educator, Marilyn Seislove, with the 2023 Outstanding Educator Award.
The Outstanding Educator Award is presented to an educator who has exemplified vision, leadership qualities, and commitment to the improvement of education. The award serves to recognize and honor outstanding achievement in the field of education, inspire the recipients to embrace the qualities and characteristics required to advance the education profession, and encourage other educators to aspire to make a difference in the education of youth to shape a better future.
Marilyn Seislove has been in the field of education for 30+ years. She began her career teaching preschool, followed by elementary classes, worked her way for 15 years through junior high language arts and history, prior to becoming the Principal of Calvert Elementary six years ago. In addition to her administrative role, Marilyn Seislove also teaches three college-credit plus (CCP) courses to Calvert High School students.
Megan Schultz, Academy and High School Principal with Calvert Catholic Schools, as well as the nominator, noted that, “Marilyn is a professional in and out of the workplace, often serving a ‘mothering’ role to many children, in addition to her own. She can be found providing clothes for those in need, cooking meals for the sick, writing letters of healing to staff members, and bakes cookies for the school.”
