Fremont, Ohio — A tragic two-vehicle collision is currently under investigation by the Fremont Ohio State Highway Patrol Post.

The incident occurred on US 20, east of CR 175, situated in York Township. Troopers say it took place on Saturday afternoon around 2:59 pm.

According to preliminary reports, a black 2002 Buick Rendezvous was proceeding in the northwest direction along the right lane of US 20. Simultaneously, a black 2020 GMC Arcadia was traveling southeast in the left lane of the same route.

Unexpectedly, the black GMC Arcadia veered across the grass median, intruding into the westbound lanes of traffic. Tragically, it collided with the black Buick Rendezvous. The force of the collision compelled the Arcadia to veer off the north side of US 20, colliding with a mailbox.

The driver of the black 2002 Buick Rendezvous has been identified as James A. Langley, a 58-year-old resident of Fremont. At the time of the crash, Langley was wearing his seatbelt. Regrettably, he sustained fatal injuries as a result of the collision.

Behind the wheel of the black 2020 GMC Arcadia was Douglas W. Auck, aged 67, hailing from Bellevue. Similar to Langley, Mr. Auck was wearing his seatbelt when the crash occurred. Tragically, he also sustained fatal injuries in the collision.

As the investigation progresses, authorities have indicated that there is no evidence to suggest that alcohol or drug impairment played a role in the crash.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol received support from various agencies at the scene, including the Sandusky County Sheriff’s Office, Clyde Fire Department, Sandusky County Coroner’s Office, Sandusky County EMS, the Ohio Department of Transportation, and Bubba’s Towing.

At this time, the circumstances surrounding the crash remain under thorough investigation. Further updates will be provided as the investigation unfolds.
