Seneca County Board of Elections announces August special election details

Tiffin, Ohio — The Seneca County Board of Elections has announced the early voting hours and crucial details for the upcoming special election scheduled for August 8th. The board is urging all eligible voters to actively participate in this election and make their voices count.
The ballot for Ohio voters in this election will feature a single issue — State Issue 1. This issue aims to make it much harder for voters to amend the state Constitution. Issue 1 would raise the percentage of votes needed to pass a voter-initiated amendment from 50% to 60%. It would also require that a given number of the hundreds of thousands of signatures needed to get an amendment on the ballot come from each of Ohio’s 88 counties instead of the current 44. Voters can access the complete ballot language by visiting this link.
The early voting period for the August 8th special election has been established as follows:
- July 11-14, 17-21, and 24-28: 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.
- July 31 and August 2-4: 7:30 a.m. – 7:30 p.m.
- August 1: 7:30 a.m. – 8:30 p.m.
- August 5: 8 a.m. – 4 p.m.
- August 6: 1 p.m. – 5 p.m.
Several important deadlines are associated with this election. The last day to register to vote is July 10th. To accommodate last-minute registrations, the Board of Elections office located at 71 S. Washington St. will remain open until 9 p.m. on that day. It is important to note that registration includes updating addresses and name changes.
The special election itself will take place on Tuesday, August 8th. Voters must cast their votes at their assigned polling locations, as voting at the Board of Elections office will not be available on Election Day.
