Authorities seize illegal fireworks from local business in Tiffin

Tiffin, Ohio — In a joint operation on Monday, the Tiffin Fire/Rescue Division and the Tiffin Police Department confiscated a substantial quantity of illegal fireworks from a local establishment.
The seizure came to light during a routine fire inspection conducted at the Tiffin Smoke Shop located at 440 W. Market St.
Upon receiving notification from the fire department, TPD promptly dispatched units to the scene. Upon arrival, officers discovered a significant stockpile of fireworks being unlawfully sold at the store premises.
Under Ohio law, the sale of fireworks requires a valid license. Furthermore, retailers are obligated to provide safety glasses to buyers either free of charge or at a minimal cost. They must also furnish a safety pamphlet that outlines the regulations and guidelines pertaining to fireworks usage as specified in the Ohio Revised Code.
The confiscated fireworks have been seized as evidence and will be subjected to further investigation. The case will be thoroughly reviewed by the State Fire Marshal and the county prosecutor, according to a press report.
