Tiffin, Ohio — Emergency crews from the City of Tiffin swiftly sprang into action on Wednesday, just before 5 p.m., in response to a partial collapse of the Ella Street bridge.

The incident occurred as the bridge was undergoing demolition work in preparation for its scheduled replacement later this year, according to a social media post from the City of Tiffin.

One worker involved in the bridge project sustained what appears to be a minor injury and was promptly transported to Mercy Health – Tiffin Hospital by the Tiffin Fire/Rescue Division. The individual’s condition is being assessed and monitored by medical professionals.

To ensure public safety and facilitate the necessary repairs, Ella Street will be closed to through traffic until November. This closure will remain in effect throughout the duration of the project.

The City of Tiffin, while actively addressing the situation, is not providing any further comments at this time.
