Man arrested after prompting ‘soft lockdown’ at Noble Elementary School: TPD
Tiffin, Ohio — Noble Elementary School reported an incident to the Tiffin Police Department on Wednesday morning regarding a man who entered the school grounds and allegedly yelled and cursed in the vicinity of students who were on recess.
65-year-old Bruce A. Neikirk was arrested and charged with possession of a deadly weapon in a school zone. According to a press report, Neikirk got into a verbal altercation with another man and was found with a large knife in his coat.
The school promptly initiated a soft lockdown as a precautionary measure, according to a Facebook post from TPD.
According to TPD, the man attempted to leave the premises but was swiftly arrested by the officers who responded to the scene.
The school administration confirmed that there was no further risk to the students or staff, and the lockdown has since been lifted.
