Former Tiffin Middle School teacher charged with sexual battery

Tiffin, Ohio — A former Tiffin Middle School teacher was arrested Thursday on a charge of sexual battery.

According to the Tiffin Police Department, 34-year-old Travis McQuistion is accused of engaging in alleged sexual conduct with a student while he was serving as a teacher.

McQuistion had been placed on administrative leave from the district in January 2023, after a reported violation of the Ohio Department of Education Code of Professional Conduct. The following day, he resigned from his position.

At the time of his resignation, Tiffin City Schools was not aware of any behavior on McQuistion’s part that rose to the level of a crime. However, the investigation was subsequently taken over by the Tiffin Police Department.

TCS Superintendent Ben Richards has released a statement in response to McQuistion’s arrest, saying, “As we have from the onset of this situation, we stand by our students and community with law enforcement and the legal system to ensure those in positions of trust are held accountable for their actions.”
