Tiffin University to participate in ‘Be the Match’ bone marrow donor recruitment program
Tiffin, Ohio — Tiffin University’s men’s football, women’s soccer and women’s basketball teams will be participating in the bone marrow donor recruitment program “Get in the Game” (GITG), an initiative of the Be the Match organization, on March 29 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The program allows attendees to join the bone marrow national registry by providing a DNA sample via mouth swab. This event is free and open to the public, and tables will be set up outside the Main Classroom Building and the Cole Dining Hall.
Now in its 15th year, GITG is the most successful donor recruitment program at Be the Match, the global leader in bone marrow transplantation services and research. Each spring, athletic teams across the country host an event on campus that allows them to educate peers on the importance of joining the national registry.
Christopher Reisert, Head Men’s Football Coach, expressed enthusiasm for the event: “Our students are very excited to join Get in the Game. We hope to recruit new members for the national registry that will hopefully have an opportunity to save the life of someone in need.”
Anyone interested in learning more about GITG can watch the program’s promotional video at this link. Those who want to find out more about Be the Match and its other affiliate programs can visit bethematch.org.
