Seneca County WIC promotes healthy eating habits during National Nutrition Month
Tiffin, Ohio — Seneca County Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) health professionals are celebrating National Nutrition Month by promoting healthy eating habits with the theme “Kids in the Kitchen Fuel the Future.” During the month of March, the local clinic will focus on educating children on age-appropriate kitchen activities to help prepare healthy dishes, using foods from the WIC food package.
The nutrition staff at the clinic provide a range of services to WIC participants throughout the year. These include assessing and evaluating participants’ medical and nutritional conditions and habits, providing counseling and education to address specific conditions, answering nutrition-related questions, and presenting nutrition education on multiple subjects through several mediums. In addition, they provide anticipatory guidance on healthy habits, including safe sleep practices, breastfeeding, immunizations, and child development.
Seneca County WIC also offers a range of services to assist the community. These services include scheduling a health professional to provide an overview of the WIC Program, scheduling additional weight checks for WIC participants and follow-up with you, providing nutrition and breastfeeding education materials on various topics, discussing a nutrition topic with a health professional, and collaborating with a health professional to provide a WIC-approved formula for a medically fragile infant or child.
For more information on these services, contact Seneca County WIC at (419) 447-3691 ext. 6316.
