Tiffin, Ohio — Seneca County Emergency Management Agency (EMA) is set to participate in the Statewide Tornado Drill on Wednesday, March 22, as part of the Spring Severe Weather Awareness week in Ohio.

The county’s sirens will be activated at 9:50 a.m. during the drill, and all schools, businesses, and households are encouraged to use this opportunity to review their safety procedures and plans for students, employees, customers, and families.

It is important to note that the sirens located around the cities and county are designed to be heard from outside. While some people may hear them in their homes or other buildings depending on their proximity to a siren, they are not intended to be heard inside. When you hear the sirens, you should seek safety and then check with media outlets for further information.

Residents can also sign up for notifications on their cellular devices through the Seneca County Wireless Emergency Notification System (WENS). To sign up, individuals can text “SenecaAlerts!” to 69310 or visit and click on the WENS button to fill out a form. The county will send out test messages during the Statewide Tornado Drill.

For any questions regarding the tornado drill or the WENS system, please contact Seneca County EMA Administrator John Spahr at (419) 447-0266 ext. 6710 or via email at
