The Great Lakes Community Action Partnership (GLCAP) is reminding residents that the deadline to apply for winter heating assistance is March 30.

The GLCAP Winter Crisis Program is available for eligible households in Ottawa, Sandusky, Seneca, and Wood Counties who have disconnected utilities or are at risk of a utility disconnect.

Residents who need to replenish their fuel supplies, such as propane or wood pellets, may also seek help through the program if their fuel supplies are at 25% or less. To qualify, residents must have an annual income at or below 175 percent of federal poverty guidelines, which translates to $23,783 for a household of one and $48,563 for a family of four.

Applicants must provide a list of all household members, including social security numbers and birthdates, as well as proof of citizenship for all household members. Additionally, applicants must provide proof of income for all household members for the previous 30 days or 12 months and copies of recent utility bills.

Residents can schedule for assistance or get more information on the Winter Crisis Program by visiting www.glcap.org/winterheating or by calling the scheduling hotline at (567) 432-5046. It is important to note that time is running out to apply for this program, and eligible residents are encouraged to act before the March 30 deadline.
