‘Be a Tourist in Your Own Town’ experience to launch in Seneca County this weekend

Tiffin, Ohio — Residents of Seneca County are in for a treat this coming weekend as they will have the opportunity to experience their community in a new and exciting way.

The Be a Tourist in Your Own Town event will take place this Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. During this time, all museums and galleries in the area will be offering free admission, with donations being accepted and encouraged.

The event also includes several experiences and attractions for residents to enjoy. To participate, residents must complete a passport that allows them to explore at least two experiences and six attractions. Passports can be found on the website www.SenecaTourist.com or at one of the four experience locations starting Friday. To be entered into a prize drawing worth over $500, participants must return their completed passport to an experience location.

The experiences offered include an interactive presentation at the Fostoria Iron Triangle Railpark, a live glass cutting demonstration at the Hawkes Crystal workshop, a live glass blowing demonstration with Ryan Poignon at The Poignon Project, and a behind-the-scenes tour of The Ritz Theatre. The Ritz Theatre tour is only available on Saturday and Sunday due to a show. Experiences will start every hour on the hour from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m.

In addition to the experiences, there are also many attractions for residents to enjoy. These include the American Civil War Museum of Ohio, Diane Kidd Gallery at Tiffin University, The Enchanted Moment Doll Museum & Gift Shoppe, Fostoria Community Arts Council Gallery, Foster’s Museum on Main, Fostoria Area Historical Museum, Fostoria Glass Heritage Gallery, Hawkes Crystal storefront, Lake Erie & Western Depot, Stemtown Historical Society Museum, Tiffin Art Guild & Gallery, Tiffin Glass Museum & Shoppe, Wesley Memorial Art Gallery, and the Seneca County Museum, which will only be open on Friday and Sunday due to presenting at a regional conference.

In addition to these attractions, several other local establishments will be hosting open houses during the weekend. The Historical Octagon House & Farm, located outside of Clyde, will be open for visitors on Saturday, March 25 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The Tiffin Train Depot will also have an open house all weekend.

This event is a great opportunity for residents of Seneca County to explore and appreciate their community. It is an excellent chance to learn about the area’s rich history, art, and culture.
