Ottawa County, Ohio — A three-vehicle crash resulted in the death of a 16-year-old girl on Tuesday.

The crash occurred at approximately 12:08 p.m. on SR 163 at North Toussaint Portage Rd, near the village of Oak Harbor, Ottawa County.

According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol Sandusky Post, 16-year-old Skylar Roberts, of Bradner, Ohio, was driving a 2013 Chevrolet Silverado northbound on North Toussaint Portage Rd at SR 163 when she failed to yield the right of way from a stop sign.

Her vehicle was struck by a 1996 Kenworth commercial truck, driven by 58-year-old John Kunkel, of Howard, Ohio, who was eastbound on SR 163 at North Toussaint Portage Rd.

Both vehicles went off the north side of SR 163 and struck a westbound 2020 Ford van driven by 36-year-old Michael Hudson, of Bedford, Ohio.

Roberts was pronounced deceased at the scene, while Kunkel received minor injuries and was transported to St. Charles ER by Portage Fire and EMS. Hudson also received minor injuries as a result of the crash and was transported to St. Charles ER by Portage Fire and EMS.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol stated that all drivers were wearing their seatbelts at the time of the crash, except for Hudson. Alcohol is not believed to be a factor in the accident, and no charges have been filed at this time.

The commercial vehicle and Ford van sustained heavy and disabling damage, respectively, and were towed from the scene by Bubba’s Towing. The Ohio State Highway Patrol was assisted by Portage Fire Department, Ohio Department of Transportation, Ottawa County Coroner’s Office, Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office, Oak Harbor Police Department, and Bubba’s Towing.

The crash remains under investigation by the Ohio State Highway Patrol Sandusky Post.
