Tiffin City Schools advances in legal battle over track installation
Tiffin, Ohio — Tiffin City Schools (TCS) is another step closer to being able to fix the problematic track at Frost-Kalnow Stadium, following a years-long legal battle. A judgment was issued this month ordering JBA Management Services to pay damages totaling $1,094,580, plus interest, according to a press release from TCS.
The track was installed in early 2019, but problems with its surface were identified shortly after. Despite multiple requests from the school district, JBA Management Services failed to address the issues, forcing the district to take legal action, according to the district.
An independent third party found multiple problems with the track and its installation, and the district issued numerous legal notices to JBA. The district’s Superintendent, Ben Richards, said it may take some time to collect on the judgment.
The Tiffin City Board of Education issued a statement in October 2022 saying, “As responsible fiscal stewards for the district, it is important to ensure that the district receives what we have paid for.”
JBA Management Services could not be reached for comment.
