Tiffin City Board of Education approves sale of W. Market Street properties
Tiffin, Ohio — The Tiffin City Board of Education on Monday approved a resolution for the private sale of two properties located at 59 and 69 W. Market Street. The sale was approved after the properties were offered at public auction but failed to receive any bids.
The properties were listed for private sale and received an offer from A.J.’s Heavenly Pizza LTD., with a purchase price of $120,000. The purchase agreement was accepted and approved by the board, and the treasurer and president of the board were authorized to sign the necessary documents to complete the sale.
The proceeds of the sale will be paid into the Permanent Improvement Fund, in accordance with Ohio law. The board members determined that the sale of the properties was reasonable and in accordance with Ohio law, which authorizes the board of education to sell real property at private sale after a public auction has failed to generate any bids.
The sale is expected to close soon. This resolution is the result of a process that began in September 2019, when the board determined that the properties were no longer needed for any school purpose and should be sold.
