Police investigating fatal shooting in Carey

Carey, Ohio — On Saturday night, the Carey Police Department responded to a 911 call regarding a shooting at 104 Lindenwood Place. Upon arrival, an officer discovered a male body in the street at the intersection of Lindenwood Place and Pine Tree Dr.

The victim, identified as 42-year-old Nathan A. Stroub, of Carey, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The suspect in the incident, identified as 43-year-old Samuel W. Seabert, of Carey, arrived at the Carey Police Department at 11:41 p.m. and was detained by authorities. He was later transported to the Wyandot County Sheriff’s Office for further questioning and was eventually arrested on a charge of homicide, according to a press release from the Carey Police Department.

Additional charges could be filed against Seabert, pending the completion of the investigation and the presentation to a Wyandot County grand jury, according to the release. Seabert is due in court Monday for his initial appearance.

The case is being investigated by the Wyandot County Major Crimes Unit and the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation. Police have not yet released any information about the victim or the suspect.

Residents in the area are urged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to the authorities. The investigation is ongoing and further information will be released as it becomes available, according to the release.
