Omni Fiber resumes utility work in Tiffin
Tiffin, Ohio — Omni Fiber, an Ohio-based company, has informed the City of Tiffin administration of its plans to resume the installation of its fiber network this week. Work will continue in the 3rd Ward, with underground installation efforts to be carried out.
Following meetings with the City of Tiffin engineering staff and administration, the company has updated its policies regarding sewer laterals and utility planning. The City of Tiffin has reviewed and approved the updated policies, which are now available on the Omni Fiber website. The policies spell out the company’s efforts to resolve any strikes of sewer laterals or other underground utilities, both during and after construction.
Residents are encouraged to contact the Engineer’s Office at (419) 448-5425 during normal business hours to see if the office has information about their sewer laterals. Contractors and residents should call the Ohio Utilities Protection Service (OUPS) at 811 at least two business days before a planned dig to request utility markings.
In August, Omni Fiber announced its plans to bring broadband access to the majority of Tiffin with a 100% fiber network. The estimated $10 million project is set to provide affordable and reliable high-speed internet to residents and businesses once complete.
For residents with questions concerning the construction project, they can email Omni Fiber customer service at [email protected] or call (844) 844-6664.
