Ohio State Highway Patrol issues 682 citations on I-75 during multi-state trooper project

Columbus, Ohio — Ohio State Highway Patrol, in collaboration with the Kentucky State Police and Michigan State Police, issued 682 citations during a high-visibility enforcement effort on Interstate 75.

The 6-State Trooper Project, which aims to provide coordinated law enforcement and security services in the areas of highway safety, criminal patrol, and intelligence sharing, focused on speed, safety belt, and OVI enforcement from Feb. 17 at 12:01 a.m. through Feb. 19 at 11:59 p.m.

Out of the total number of citations issued, 618 were for speed violations, 52 for safety belt violations, and 12 for OVI violations. Troopers from Kentucky, Michigan, and Ohio collectively issued 955 citations during the multi-state enforcement effort. Of these, 873 were for speed-related violations, 68 were for safety belt infractions, and 14 were for OVI.

The state police agencies in Indiana, Pennsylvania and West Virginia did not participate in this enforcement effort, as the initiative only included I-75.
