Here are the candidates who have filed to run in the May 2023 primary

Tiffin, Ohio — The Seneca County Board of Elections recently announced the list of candidates who have filed to run in the May 2023 municipal primary election.

The primary election will take place on May 2, 2023. Winning candidates will advance to the November general election.

There are various positions up for election including mayor, director of law, city council, Tiffin-Fostoria Municipal Court, and more.

Mayor

Incumbent Mayor Dawn Iannantuono, who was elected to the position by Tiffin City Council following the resignation of former Mayor Aaron Montz, said she will not seek a full term.

Candidates who have filed paperwork to run for mayor include:

  • Lee Wilkinson
  • John Spahr
  • Mary Franks

Law Director

Brent Howard, who has served as law director for the City of Tiffin for over 27 years, announced in December that he would not seek reelection.

Candidates Zachary E. Fowler and Gina R. Grandillo have filed to run for the position.

Tiffin-Fostoria Municipal Court Judge

  • James W. Fruth
  • Rhonda L. Best (incumbent)
  • Mark E. Repp

Member of Tiffin City Council, at-large

The three at-large seats on Tiffin City Council are up for election this year. Two of the current at-large council members, Vickie Wilkins and Cheyane L. Thacker, are running for reelection. John Spahr, the third at-large council member, is running for mayor.

No matter what happens, it appears there will still be at least one man named John serving on council following the election.

Candidates include:

  • John M. Kahler II
  • Vickie Wilkins (incumbent)
  • Cheyane L. Thacker (incumbent)
  • John Bing
  • John Hays

Member of Tiffin City Council, 1st Ward

Incumbent 1st Ward Councilman Steve Lepard is not running for reelection.

Candidates include:

  • Aaron W. Jones
  • Christopher Monsour

Member of Tiffin City Council, 2nd Ward

  • Scott D. Hoernemann
  • Kenneth A. Jones (incumbent)

Member of Tiffin City Council, 3rd Ward

  • Kevin Roessner (incumbent)

Member of Tiffin City Council, 4th Ward

Incumbent 4th Ward Councilman Daniel Perry is not running for reelection.

Candidates include:

  • Dennis A. Snay
  • Troy McKee
