15 alleged child predators arrested in Fostoria police operation
Fostoria, Ohio — 15 suspects have been apprehended over the past 10 months during special covert operations conducted by the Fostoria Police Division (FPD) as part of the national program, Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC), according to a press release from FPD.
The investigations led to numerous charges of attempted sexual conduct with a minor, importuning, and disseminating harmful material to a juvenile.
During these operations, Officer Kyle Reinbolt posed as a child online and engaged in conversations with the suspects seeking sexual conduct, according to the release.
“There is no greater threat to our community than those who prey upon our children. We will continue to apprehend these individuals, whether online or in person, and bring them to court while giving them their due process,” said Gabe Wedge, Chief of Police for the Fostoria Police Division.
While most of these subjects have been convicted and sentenced, several are still awaiting their day in court. The press release concludes that the police department will continue to pursue those who prey on children and bring them to justice.
