Tiffin man killed in SR 53 crash: OSHP
Tiffin, Ohio — A Tiffin man was killed in a single-vehicle crash Tuesday afternoon, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
Troopers say the crash happened at approximately 2:42 p.m. on State Route 53 near milepost 5 in Seneca Township, Seneca County.
According to the preliminary investigation, 62-year-old Terrance Joachim, of Tiffin, was driving a 2021 white International semi-truck when he drove off the right side of the road, striking a guardrail. The vehicle then crossed back over to the left side of the roadway and overturned.
Joachim was trapped inside the vehicle and had to be extricated by mechanical means by the Sycamore Fire Department, according to OSHP. He sustained fatal injuries as a result of the crash.
Joachim was wearing his seatbelt at the time of the crash. Alcohol does not appear to have been a factor, according to OSHP.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol received assistance on the scene from the Seneca County Sheriff’s Office, Seneca County EMS, Sycamore Fire Department, Seneca County Coroner, Ohio Department of Transportation, and John’s Towing.
The crash remains under investigation.
