Norwalk woman killed in crash on SR 547: OSHP

Norwalk, Ohio — The Norwalk Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol (OSHP) is investigating a fatal two-vehicle crash that occurred Saturday at 4:57 p.m. on State Route 547 at Section Line 30 in Lyme Township, Huron County.

According to OSHP, 28-year-old Lacey Gerich, of Norwalk, was driving a blue 2016 Hyundai Tucson southbound on Section Line 30, when she failed to yield from a stop sign and pulled into the path of a white 2023 Peterbilt 567 driven by 44-year-old Thomas Eaton, of Bellevue.

Eaton struck Gerich on the passenger side and both vehicles came to rest off the southeast corner of the intersection.

Gerich, who was not wearing a safety belt, was pronounced dead at the scene by North Central EMS. 1-year-old Charlotte Jagel, of Norwalk, who was in a child seat, was transported to Fisher Titus Hospital with minor injuries. Eaton was wearing a safety belt and sustained no injuries, according to OSHP.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol was assisted on scene by the Huron County Sheriff’s Office, Bellevue Fire Department, North Central EMS, and Wilcox Towing.

Gerich’s vehicle and Eaton’s vehicle were both towed from the scene by Wilcox Towing. The crash remains under investigation.
