Tiffin, Ohio — During the Tiffin City Council meeting Monday evening, Mayor Dawn Iannantuono read a proclamation declaring Sept. 27, 2022 as Golden Hanna Day — the day that would have been Hanna’s 100th birthday.

According to the mayor’s proclamation, Golden Hanna came to Tiffin at a young age and was a resident of the Junior Home after her father’s unexpected death.

Upon graduating from the Junior Home, she started working at JCPenney and eventually retired from General Electric in Tiffin. She married Melvin Hanna on June 12, 1943, and they made Tiffin their home and had three sons, Richard, William, and Kenneth.

Hanna passed away at 8 a.m. Monday, Aug. 22, 2022, at Good Shepherd Home in Fostoria, at the age of 99.

Mayor Iannantuono presented the proclamation to Hanna’s family during the city council meeting.
