Man killed in Marion County crash: OSHP

Marion, Ohio — Troopers from the Ohio State Highway Patrol’s Marion Post are investigating a fatal crash that occurred Saturday evening.

Troopers say the crash occurred at approximately 8:55 p.m. at the intersection of County Road 26 and County Road 174 in Marion County.

The crash involved a 2014 Honda CR-V, driven by 36-year-old Ryan M. Cox, of Marion.

Cox was traveling northbound on CR 174, failed to stop at the intersection, traveled off the north side of CR 26, and struck an irrigation ditch. The vehicle overturned onto its side as a result.

Cox was pronounced deceased on scene by the Marion County Coroner, according to OSHP. He was not wearing his seatbelt at the time of the crash.

A dog was located in the vehicle with minor injuries.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol was assisted on scene by the Marion County Sheriff’s Office, 1st Consolidated Fire and EMS, Marion County Coroner’s Office, Marion County Dog Warden, and Precision Towing.

The crash remains under investigation, according to OSHP.
