16-year-old killed in single vehicle crash: OSHP

Richland County, Ohio — A 16-year-old male was killed in a single vehicle crash Thursday afternoon in Richland County, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

The crash occurred at approximately 1:25 p.m. on Peterson Rd. in Mifflin Township, Richland County.

The 16-year-old male was driving a 2009 blue Chevrolet Impala when he traveled off the right side of the road, striking a ditch and a tree, according to OSHP.

The driver was pronounced dead at the scene. The vehicle was also occupied by another 16-year-old male in the passenger seat, who was transported to Ohio Health Mansfield for treatment.

The names of the occupants have not yet been released by OSHP.

Mifflin and Madison Township Fire and EMS assisted on the scene, as well as the Richland County Sheriff’s Office, Richland County Coroner’s Office, and Gibbs Towing.

Both occupants were wearing their seatbelts at the time of the crash, according to OSHP. The crash remains under investigation.
