Fremont, Ohio — A 12-year-old child was arrested Sunday in Fremont after allegedly posting a threatening message to social media.

According to the Fremont Police Department, officers received two separate reports about the threatening message, which was posted to Snapchat.

Police say the message included a photo of three firearms and a caption “all the school supplies I need.”

The 12-year-old’s parents are cooperating with police, and all three firearms, which were later found to be BB guns, were confiscated.

Fremont police are working closely with Fremont City Schools and the Sandusky County Juvenile Prosecutor’s Office.

The child has been arrested and will also face consequences through Fremont City Schools in accordance with their policies, according to police.

“Please take this opportunity to talk with your children about consequences of their activity on social media,” Chief Derek Wensinger said in a press release. “Content like this will be taken seriously by the Fremont Police Department and we will commit all of the resources we have to ensure these incidents are investigated completely.”
