TU’s Center for InterculTUral Excellence receives Ohio Diversity Grant
Tiffin, Ohio — Tiffin University’s Center for InterculTUral Excellence (CIE) was recently awarded an Ohio Diversity Grant for $2,500 through a branch of the Ohio Foundation of Independent Colleges (OFIC) – the OFIC Diversity and Inclusion Program.
This gift was donated to the OFIC through FirstEnergy Foundation. The award recognizes TU and the CIE for ongoing efforts to implement diversity, equity and inclusion-based practices both internally and for third-party clients. Of the 19 Ohio colleges to request funding, five applications were approved.
The CIE will use this resource as partial funding for its upcoming Celebrating CulTUral Uniqueness at Tiffin University (CCU@TU) Day this fall, and plans to secure a guest presenter with the investment.
The purpose of CCU@TU Day will be to educate students and employees about how diversity in all forms can enrich the lives of others both personally and professionally when it is integrated and celebrated. Participants will also work to identify and overcome their conscious and unconscious biases while attending.
“This is a huge step forward for the Center, and we are excited, humbled and poised to use this resource to strengthen our platform and collective voice,” said Nadia Lewis, Vice President of Human Resources and the Center for InterculTUral Excellence. “This generous grant is not only an acknowledgement of our prior efforts, but an opportunity to take it all a step further – to enlist the help of another expert in the field to provide a fresh perspective on the work. I greatly look forward to seeing the impact this will have on our University community.”
