Tiffin, Ohio — The Tiffin University Drone Academy will be hosting a presentation on drone technology and a flight demonstration at the Seneca County Fair on Thursday from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.

The purpose of the event is to highlight the many ways in which the academy and its partnerships with the Seneca County Drone Team, Tiffin Police Department, Fostoria Police Department, Seneca County Sheriff’s Office and the Seneca County Departments of Agriculture/Public Safety benefit the community. It is free with the cost of daily admission to the fair.

The presentation will be divided into two sections, each taking place at the fairgrounds’ grandstands.

From 2 to 3 p.m., the academy will talk about their ongoing cooperation with the Tiffin Police Department as well as explain the benefits of drone usage in law enforcement efforts.

From 3 to 4 p.m., the academy will discuss its additional relationships with local agriculture and public safety entities and explore the applications of drone technology in this field.

The flight demonstration will take place 4 to 5 p.m. on the infield.

“We are excited to showcase a select few of our abilities,” said Owen Fritz, director of the drone academy. “We are particularly proud of our partnerships with those in agriculture, public safety and law enforcement, and this is what we want to advertise to the residents of Seneca County. These machines are tremendous and have the potential to help entire communities through these avenues, so please come out and engage with us at the fair.”
