Sylvania, Ohio — The Toledo Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal crash on Interstate 475 eastbound near Corey Road, Sylvania Township, Lucas County. The crash occurred Friday at approximately 9:28 p.m., according to OSHP.

A disabled blue Jeep Compass was stopped eastbound on I-475 in the left lane.

A black Kenworth T800 semi-truck driven by 59-year-old Mark Morgan, of Tiffin, was eastbound on I-475 and struck the Jeep Compass.

A pedestrian, 32-year-old Bryona Blacksten, of Toledo, was outside the Jeep Compass and was struck by the semi.

Blacksten was pronounced deceased at the scene. Morgan sustained no injuries from the crash.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol was assisted on scene by the Sylvania Township Police Department, Sylvania Township Fire Department, and the Ohio Department of Transportation. I-475 eastbound was shut down for approximately five hours.

OSHP says alcohol does not appear to be a factor in the crash, which remains under investigation.
