Tiffin, Ohio — Following the declaration of a vacancy in the office of judge for the Tiffin-Fostoria Municipal Court last week, the Seneca County Board of Elections has shared details of how the process for filling the seat will go forward.

Tiffin City Council unanimously passed an ordinance on June 20 to declare a vacancy for the position of Tiffin-Fostoria Municipal Court judge, officially ousting Mark Repp from the judgeship after he was suspended by the Ohio Supreme Court last year.

Appointment

According to a press release from the board of elections, the governor may appoint a replacement who would serve until completion of the Nov. 7, 2023 general election.

The Seneca County Board of Elections has nothing to do with the appointment process, so any questions about the process should be directed to the office of Governor DeWine.

Election

Petitions are available at the office of the Seneca County Board of Elections or on the Ohio Secretary of State website for those who are interested in running to serve out the remainder of the current, unexpired term (from the 2023 election until Dec. 31, 2025).
