City of Tiffin reminds residents of fireworks ban

Tiffin, Ohio — Despite changes in state law concerning fireworks, the city of Tiffin continues to prohibit the discharge of fireworks in city limits.

State law has allowed fireworks on certain dates, but local governments still have the power to make further restrictions.

With the exception of licensed exhibitors of fireworks authorized to conduct a fireworks, section 1519.04 (b) of Tiffin Codified Ordinances states that “no person shall discharge, ignite or explode any fireworks in this Municipality.”

According to Tiffin Codified Ordinances, anyone found to have violated the law in regard to the discharge of fireworks is guilty of a misdemeanor of the first degree for a first offense and may be fined up to $1,000 or imprisoned for up to six months, or both.
