Tiffin, Ohio — Bryce Riggs announced Thursday that he is seeking the nomination of Tiffin City Council for the appointment of the unexpired term of Mayor Aaron D. Montz, who announced last week that he is leaving the post to become the next president and CEO of Tiffin-Seneca Economic Partnership.

According to a press release, Riggs said he will commit to being a full-time mayor, and intends to seek a full term by running in the 2023 election.

Riggs has been a resident of Tiffin and Seneca County for most of his life and has been involved in the community and in local government.

Currently, Riggs is the executive director of the Seneca Regional Chamber of Commerce and Destination Seneca County.

Prior to his time with the Chamber and Destination Seneca County, Riggs was the Associate Director of Development at Tiffin University and was a development manager at the Tiffin-Seneca Economic Partnership before that.

Riggs has served on the City of Tiffin’s Charter Review Commission, Planning Commission and Zoning Board of Appeals. He has led the levy campaign efforts for the Road & Bridge Levy for its passage in 2018 and the renewal in 2022.

Riggs currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Seneca County Young Professionals, President of the Tiffin Columbian Gridiron Club, Board Member of the Tiffin Columbian Alumni Association, and leads the Downtown Tiffin Pizza Party in partnership with the Seneca County Young Professionals. Riggs also has led several successful levy campaigns for Tiffin City Schools.

Riggs graduated Tiffin Columbian High School and went on to obtain his bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Heidelberg University and earned his master of business administration degree from Tiffin University. Riggs also is a graduate of the Leadership Seneca County program.

“I’m proud to call Tiffin home and to have had the opportunity to work directly with Mayor Montz and his administration for the betterment of our city,” Riggs said. “I am truly a product of Tiffin and I believe I have the skills needed to continue the strong momentum in our community.”
