Flat Rock, Ohio — A woman was killed and a man was hospitalized with serious injuries as the result of a two-vehicle crash Sunday evening in Seneca County.

According to a release from the Ohio State Highway Patrol, the crash occurred at approximately 7:35 p.m. on County Road 29 south of Chestnut St. in Flat Rock.

36-year-old Kenneth Salyers, of Bellevue, was driving a 2008 Lincoln MKZ northbound on County Road 29. He drove left of center and struck a parked 2008 Chevrolet Silverado that was unoccupied.

Salyers sustained serious injuries and was transported to St. Vincent’s Medical Center in Toledo. He was not wearing his safety belt.

34-year-old Heather Salyers, of Bellevue, was the front seat passenger with Mr. Salyers. She was not wearing her safety belt and sustained fatal injuries.

Wilcox towing responded to the scene and removed both vehicles.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol says alcohol and drug usage are considered to be a factor, and the crash remains under investigation.

OSHP was assisted on scene by North Central EMS, Life Flight, Bellevue Fire Department, Wilcox Towing, Seneca County Sheriff’s Office, Ohio State Patrol Reconstruction, and the Seneca County Coroner’s Office.
