Woman killed, 9-year-old seriously injured in SR 53 crash

Wyandot County, Ohio — A Northwest Ohio woman was killed and a 9-year-old child was seriously injured in a two-vehicle crash last week.
According to the Bucyrus Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol, the crash occurred Wednesday, Dec. 29, 2021 at approximately 3 p.m. on State Route 53 at mile post 19 in Tymochtee Township.
41-year-old Tabatha L. Cascadden, of Curtice, Ohio, was driving a black 2006 Cadillac STS4 southbound on SR 53.
29-year-old Thomas Miller, of Tiffin, was driving white 2016 Freightliner tractor trailer northbound on SR 53.
Police say Cascadden traveled left of center, struck the tractor trailer, and traveled off the right side of the roadway.
Cascadden was ejected from the vehicle and confirmed deceased at the scene.
A 9-year-old juvenile passenger was in the back seat of the vehicle and sustained serious injuries. The child was initially taken to Wyandot Memorial Hospital and later transported to Nationwide Children’s Hospital in Columbus.
Miller was also transported to Wyandot Memorial Hospital as a precaution, according to OSHP.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol was assisted on scene by Upper Sandusky Fire and EMS, Wyandot County Sheriff’s Office, and the Ohio Department of Transportation.
The crash remains under investigation.
