Tiffin, Ohio — A juvenile is facing charges and school discipline after making a threat towards Tiffin Middle School on Monday.

At approximately 7:30 a.m. Monday, Tiffin Middle School staff were made aware of the threat.

In collaboration with police, an investigation was initiated and the student was identified and removed from the student population.

According to Dr. Michael Zalar, superintendent of Tiffin City Schools, the investigation found that the threat was heard by two students and referenced harming people at the school.

“Please know this student is facing school discipline as well as pending charges with the police,” Zalar said. “Meanwhile, the district is working closely with mental health professionals and school counselors to ensure the proper supports are in place for the student and family.”

Zalar added that Tiffin City Schools takes all threatening matters seriously.

“We are thankful for the opportunity to partner with you in educating your children and will continue to work hard at delivering a safe learning environment,” he said.
