Nick Dutro named Director of Communications and Constituent Services for City of Tiffin
Tiffin, Ohio — Tiffin Mayor Aaron Montz announced Thursday that Nick Dutro has been named the city’s first Director of Communications and Constituent Services. Dutro previously was the Economic Development Manager at Tiffin-Seneca Economic Partnership.
Tiffin City Council approved the position’s creation in November. Mayor Aaron Montz stated the Director of Communications role will help the city handle media and public relations, while maintaining the functions of the Mayor’s Administrative Assistant.
Dutro joined TSEP in 2019 after a 10-year career with The Advertiser-Tribune as a reporter and Sunday editor. In 2021, he was awarded the Ohio Certified Economic Developer (OhioCED) credential by the Ohio Economic Development Association. He is a graduate of Calvert High School and holds a bachelor’s degree in Journalism from Ohio Northern University.
Dutro said, “I’m incredibly excited for this opportunity to join the City of Tiffin as the Director of Communications and Constituent Services. I hope to continue to make a difference in the community as I had through TSEP, but also to perform a valuable service in keeping the public informed, as I did at the newspaper. I’m grateful to the City Administration for putting their trust in me.”
Mayor Montz said: “I am elated to have the opportunity to bring someone with Nick’s immense talents to the team at City Hall. While there were several well-qualified candidates for the position, Nick stood out above the rest as having the best skill-set and abilities to lead the city’s newly established communications and constituent services division.”
City Administrator Dale Thornton stated: “Nick comes to the city with superb credentials, a wealth of experience and a knowledge of the community that make him a great fit for this newly created position. I look forward to working with him in his new role.”
