Tiffin, Ohio — The Tiffin Community Kitchen project’s leadership team is inviting the community to an open meeting at 7 p.m. Nov. 17 at Old Trinity Episcopal Church, 125 E. Market St., Tiffin, Ohio.
The group will share updates, answer questions, and seek input from interested community members. The meeting also will be streamed on the Tiffin Community Kitchen Facebook page.
The Reverend Aaron Gerlach is the Rector of Old Trinity and the President of the Board of Seneca County Common Ground. These two entities are partnering to lead the Community Kitchen project.
“We continue to be amazed by the support from the community as this project progresses. We have some exciting updates to share and are always looking for additional participation from any interested individuals or groups,” Gerlach said.
Once completed, the kitchen will focus on connecting local growers and businesses to the community, providing opportunities for groups to cook and eat together, housing a diverse set of cooking classes and creating ways to give back to the community by preparing food. “The Tiffin Community Kitchen at its core is about developing community relationships and improving the community through food,” said Gerlach.
Over the past year, the team has been working to raise money for the project through a private capital campaign, grant writing and continuing to build relationships with strategic partners.
One of the many partnership opportunities with the Kitchen will be with the Tiffin Seneca Farmers Market. Market Manager Kirsten Ameling, said, “We look forward to hosting educational experiences in the Kitchen space. Knowing how to prepare the fresh produce supplied by local growers will not only help to improve the local food economy, but will also provide fresh produce to the community for a healthier dining experience.”
Anyone wishing to contribute to the project can give online at tiffincommunitykitchen.com or mail gifts to 125 East Market Street, Tiffin. For information, contact Gerlach at RevGerlach@OldTrinityEpiscopal.com, call (567) 938-0102 or visit tiffincommunitykitchen.com.
