Tiffin, Ohio — The Seneca County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a reported unauthorized home entry that allegedly occurred Wednesday evening.
The sheriff’s office received a 911 call around 7:30 p.m. from a person who said they believed their neighbor’s residence was broken into and thought the subjects were still inside.
Deputies responded to the residence, located in the 2000 block of S. County Road 591 in Hopewell Township, and secured the area with the help of the Ohio State Highway Patrol, Fostoria Police Department SRT (Special Response Team), Tiffin Police Department SRT, and Tiffin Police Department HNT (Hostage Negotiation Team).
After authorities entered the residence, no one was discovered inside.
The sheriff’s office says the investigation is still ongoing.
“I am thankful that our deputies just happened to be in the area, and their immediate response, along with the assistance from all the law enforcement agencies involved, was instrumental to the success of this investigation,” Sheriff Fred Stevens said in a news release.
