Music producer and composer joins Tiffin University faculty

Tiffin, Ohio — Tiffin University’s cutting-edge degree program in Commercial Music is proud to announce that composer, producer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Dan Myers will join the Tiffin University music faculty, teaching courses in recording studio production and engineering, film scoring, sound design and arranging, and working with students in commercial music ensembles and the TU record label.

“Professor Myers will bring to our students a really valuable perspective from his ongoing work in the music industry,” said Dr. Peter Holbrook, Provost and Chief Academic Officer.  “He truly exemplifies Tiffin University’s stated mission of educating students by linking knowledge to professional practice.”

“We are fortunate to have on our team someone with Dan’s extensive professional credits,” said Brad Rees, Executive Director of Arts Programs.  “It’s exciting that our students will be working with Dan at their side in our recording studio producing original work.”

Myers composes for film, television and the stage, and his original songs can be heard in major motion pictures, digital animation features and network television series. He has scored music for the Kintoons animated series, games and apps, and co-produced original music placements in TV shows including Dancing With The Stars, Melrose Place (2010), Pawn Stars, Queer Eye, Real Housewives of New Jersey, and many others, and has composed music for films including Hoodwinked Too: Hood vs Evil, and the award-winning film The After Party. His national commercial credits include music for Toyota, Coca-Cola, Kentucky Fried Chicken, Chili’s, Ford Motors, Lowes and others.

As a singer and string player in the Lt. Dan Band — led by Forrest Gump and CSI-NY actor Gary Sinise — Myers has enjoyed the privilege of dueling on fiddle with Charlie Daniels at the Kennedy Center, performing for U.N. troops in Afghanistan and Kuwait, and debuting new music at the Ravinia Festival.

His former band, Down The Line, toured the country with legendary acts such as Peter Frampton, America, Ben Folds, Marshall Crenshaw, Pat Benatar, The Gin Blossoms and others. More recently, Myers recorded and toured nationally with his Indie-folk band Stolen Silver and has been featured in the New York Times, Chicago Tribune, American Way Magazine and WGN.

A native of Wisconsin, Myers earned a Bachelor of Music in Jazz Studies from Western Michigan University and a Master of Fine Arts in Music Composition for the Screen from Columbia College. He and his wife — vocalist, guitarist and actress Julie Dutchak — will move to Tiffin from their longtime home and studio in Chicago.
