Second annual Juneteenth celebration to take place in Downtown Tiffin

Tiffin, Ohio — Tiffin’s second annual downtown celebration of Juneteenth is set to take place this weekend.

Juneteenth is a holiday celebrating the emancipation of those who had been enslaved in the United States. Originating in Galveston, Texas, it is now celebrated annually on June 19 throughout the country.

Events include:

  • Thursday, June 17 (7:00 to 9:00 p.m.): Trivia Night as part of Third Thursdays hosted by Tiffin-Seneca Economic Partnership and the Tiffin-Seneca Public Library. At the Frost-Kalnow Amphitheater at East Green.
  • Friday, June 18 (9:30 a.m.): Flag raising ceremony in front of Heidelberg University’s Beeghly Library
  • Friday, June 18 (4:00 p.m.): Social justice action celebrating emancipation of slavery in the USA. In front of the Seneca County Joint Justice Center.
  • Saturday, June 19 (7:00 p.m.): Tiffin Juneteenth Celebration at Frost-Kalnow Amphitheater at East Green

The Tiffin-Seneca Public Library, 77 Jefferson St., is also hosting a Juneteenth display.
