Ballville Township, Ohio — A Tiffin woman was seriously injured in a single vehicle accident in Ballville Township.
The Fremont Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol says the crash occurred Sunday evening at approximately 10:20 p.m. on County Road 201 just west of Tiffin Rd.
A black 2018 Chevrolet Traverse was westbound on County Road 201 when it went off the right side of the roadway, through a field, and struck the residence at 162 County Road 201, along with two vehicles that were parked there.
The passenger in the vehicle, 45-year-old Mellisa Lopez, of Tiffin, was partially ejected through the windshield.
Police say Lopez sustained serious injuries and was transported by Life Flight to Saint Vincent Medical Center in Toledo.
The driver of Lopez’s vehicle left the scene prior to first responders arriving on scene, and their whereabouts are still unknown as of Monday morning.
Police suspect that the driver also sustained serious injuries in the crash. It does not appear that either occupant was wearing their safety belt at the time of the crash, and it is unknown if alcohol was involved, according to police.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol was assisted at the scene by the Sandusky County Sheriff’s Department, Ballville Township Fire and EMS, Life Flight, and Ash’s Towing.
