Erie County, Ohio — A Huron man and a Norwalk teenager died, and a Norwalk woman was hospitalized with serious injuries after a two-vehicle crash Friday in Erie County.
According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, the crash occurred at approximately 3:46 p.m. on Mason Road between State Route 13 and Old Mason Road in Milan Township, Erie County.
49-year-old Nicholas M. Barylski, of Huron, was driving a 2020 GMC Sierra eastbound on Mason Road.
36-year-old Veronica J. Stanley, of Norwalk, was driving a 2020 Hyundai Santa Fe westbound on Mason Road, with 15-year-old Alli J. Kurdinat, also of Norwalk, as a passenger.
Police say Barylski failed to negotiate a curve, went left of center, and started to go off the left side of the roadway.
Barylski struck Stanley’s vehicle as Stanley was negotiating the curve.
Barylski was ejected from his vehicle as it overturned, and Stanley’s vehicle came to a final rest of Mason Road.
Barylski sustained fatal injuries as a result of the crash and was pronounced dead at the scene. Stanley sustained serious injuries and was transported to MetroHealth Medical Center in Cleveland by MetroHealth-Metro Life Flight.
Stanley’s passenger, Alli J. Kurdinat, sustained fatal injuries as a result of the crash and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police say Barylski was not wearing a safety belt at the time of the crash, while Stanley and Kurdinat were.
The possibility of alcohol and/or drug use is still being investigated, according to police. The crash remains under investigation.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol was assisted on scene by the Erie County Sheriff’s Office, North Central EMS, Milan Township Fire and EMS, MetroHealth-Metro Life Flight, and Central Automotive & Radiator.
