Electric vehicle charging stations now operational in Downtown Tiffin
Tiffin, Ohio — Two DC Fast Charging units for electric vehicles (EV) have been installed and are now in operation in City Lot 7 in Downtown Tiffin.
These units were funded by AEP Ohio and a White Family Grant through the Tiffin Community Foundation.
The charging units can be found on the ChargePoint App, which allows users to find various charging stations and pay for use of the units.
Additionally, the charging units can be paid for with credit card on site. The cost to users will be for the power itself, with no additional fees.
The City of Tiffin received a $150,000 grant from AEP Ohio EV Charging Incentive Program for the charging units in 2020.
The White Family Grant provided an $8,000 grant to cover signage and signage installation and a 1-year warranty.
ABM Electrical Power Solutions installed the two Level 3-DC Fast Charging Units. These units will enable an electric vehicle to charge to 80% of the battery within 30 minutes. They require 480 V service.
Each charging station is equipped with two Power Modules that deliver up to 62.3 kW to a vehicle. The charging stations will support legacy and future battery packs from 200V to 1,000V.
Tiffin Mayor Aaron Montz said, “Thank you to Tiffin Community Foundation, the White Family Grant and to AEP Ohio for this opportunity in the City of Tiffin.”
“Having these stations downtown and now ready-to-use puts us on the map for commuters and positions Tiffin to be ready for the future of travel,” the mayor added.
