Commissioners to thank health commissioner, hear from Secretary of State’s office

Tiffin, Ohio — The Seneca County Board of Commissioners is to meet at 10 a.m. Thursday for a regular board session.

During appointments, the commissioners are to speak with Seneca County Health Commissioner Beth Schweitzer. Schweitzer caps off a seven-year stint as health commissioner on Friday, as she heads into retirement after nearly 30 years in the public health field.

At about 10 a.m., Eva McGinnis is to join the meeting. McGinnis has received the Girl Scout Gold Award, which is the highest honor in Girl Scouts. According to McGinnis’ mother, Eva worked for more than two years on her project.

The commissioners are to congratulate McGinnis on her achievement and talk to her about her project, which has helped to make a difference in the lives of the homeless population. At about 10:15 a.m., Jacob Huner from the Ohio Secretary of State’s Office is expected to provide an update to the commissioners.

Later during appointments, Mental Health and Recovery Services Board of Seneca, Sandusky and Wyandot Counties Executive Director Mircea Handru is to provide an update from his agency.

During old business, the board is scheduled to receive a request from the Seneca County Treasurer.

The commissioners are scheduled for an executive session to discuss personnel/employment and potential property acquisition.

During new business, the board is to consider:

  • A $1,500 supplemental appropriation to the Clerk of Courts Title Admin Fund for travel.
  • Accepting the bid and contract with Rush Truck Centers of Lima for a 64-passenger school bus on behalf of the Seneca County Opportunity Center.
  • An agreement with Thomas P. Miller and Associates on behalf of the Seneca County Department of Job and Family Services.
