City of Tiffin income tax return deadline extended Staff




Tiffin, Ohio — Due to the IRS and State of Ohio extending the deadline to file 2020 income tax returns, the City of Tiffin tax returns are now due on or before May 17, 2021. All residents age 18 and older and all entities or individuals doing business within Tiffin MUST file a tax return.

Residents may file using the City of Tiffin’s new E-file program or you may fill out a paper return and mail or drop it off at the city tax office, 53 E. Market St. Returns not filed by the due date will be subject to a $25 per month late filing penalty up to a maximum of $150.

Blank city tax forms are available at the following locations:

  • Income Tax Department – City Hall Annex, 53 E. Market St.
  • Tiffin Post Office, 175 S. Monroe St.
  • Tiffin Seneca Public Library, 77 Jefferson St.

Forms and additional filing information may be downloaded at All returns must include a copy of all W-2s, 1099NEC, 1099MISC, and a copy of your Federal 1040 including Schedule 1, C, E, and F if applicable.

If you have questions regarding filing your return, you may contact the tax department by calling 419-448-5405 Monday – Friday, 8:30 am – 4:30 pm. In person assistance will be available by appointment only on a limited basis for tax matters that cannot be resolved over the phone. PLEASE NOTE: The tax office will no longer be offering tax preparation services.

Payment is due May 17, 2021 or at the time you file your return. If not paid by the due date, a late payment penalty of 15 percent plus interest will be charged. Payment forms accepted are cash, check, money order or credit card ($3.50 convenience fee if using a card).

As a reminder, estimated tax payments are required if you have income on which tax is not withheld, and the amount you expect to owe for 2021 is over $200. An underpayment penalty of 15% plus interest will be applied to any underpayment of estimated tax.
