OSHP: Fostoria man seriously injured in single vehicle crash Staff




The Ohio State Highway Patrol’s Norwalk Post is investigating a single vehicle injury crash that occurred today, February 13, 2021 at approximately 2:00 a.m.

The crash occurred on County Road 61, west of State Route 53, Pleasant Township, Seneca County.

John C. Fritz, of Fostoria, Ohio, was driving a 1996 Ford Explorer east on County Road 61.

Mr. Fritz was traveling at a high rate of speed and drove off the right side of the road striking a utility pole and rolling onto his driver’s side.

The vehicle sustained disabling damage and was removed from the scene by Reinhart’s Towing.

As a result of the crash Mr. Fritz was trapped in the vehicle and had to be extricated by mechanical means.

Mr. Fritz suffered serious injuries and was transported from the scene by Life Flight to Mercy Health – Saint Vincent’s Medical Center in Toledo.

Mr. Fritz was wearing his seat belt during the crash which remains under investigation.

Alcohol does appear to be a contributing factor in the crash.

Assisting on scene were the Old Fort Fire Department, North Central EMS, Mercy Life Flight, AEP Electric and Reinhart’s Towing.
