According to a press release from the Fostoria Fire Division, emergency personnel responded to 800 Woodward Avenue, Lot 47, at 7:12 a.m. Wednesday for a report of a person trapped inside the mobile home.
That’s when they discovered heavy fire and smoke coming from the roof of the mobile home. All off-duty personnel were called in to assist, according to the release.
Upon entering the mobile home, firefighters found a deceased male whose identity is currently being withheld pending an autopsy.
Crews remained on scene for about five hours fighting the fire.
Tiffin Fire and Rescue Division was called in for manpower and an engine. Bascom EMS was called to handle EMS runs in the city of Fostoria, and the Findlay Fire Department also assisted.
The Ohio State Fire Marshal’s Office was called in to investigate the fire. The cause of the fire is undetermined, according to the press release.
“The Fostoria Fire Division would like to remind everyone that working smoke detectors in your home can save lives. If you are unable to obtain one on your own the fire division will make some available to you,” Fostoria Fire Chief Brian Herbert said.
