The year 2021 will be an important one in Ohio politics.

It’s a year of redistricting: the 16 Congressional districts will be redrawn, as will the 99 Ohio House of Representatives districts and the 33 Ohio Senate districts.

Have you ever wondered what it’s like to draw these districts on a map of Ohio?

A free mapmaking website gives you a chance to try.

DistrictR lets you draw maps for Congress, the Ohio House of Representatives and the Ohio Senate. As you fill in the map, the site will show each drawn district’s estimated population.

Each district should try to feature a near-equal number of constituents and should be compactly drawn. If you really want to follow the rules, you can read up on Ohio’s redistricting criteria here.

The Ohio Capital Journal recently detailed what the 2021 redistricting process will look like.
