Williams County, Ohio — An abducted child from Colorado was recovered Saturday night by the Ohio State Highway Patrol after a traffic stop on the Ohio Turnpike in Williams County.

Troopers from the Swanton Patrol Post were notified of a possible child abduction out of Colorado at 7:33 p.m. They located a black Cadillac that matched their records for the abduction, and pulled the car over on the Ohio Turnpike.

The vehicle was pulled over at mile post 15 in Jefferson Township. The 5-year-old girl was found inside along with her non-custodial mother, identified as Christine Mascarenas.

Mascarenas was taken into custody without incident. She was booked in the Correction Center of Northwest Ohio, where she will be held until transferred to Colorado.

The child was released to Williams County Child Services.

Charges for Mascarenas will stem out of Westminster, Colorado.
