Attica, Ohio — North Central Electric Co-op, in partnership with Touchstone Energy Cooperatives, has announced that Tiffin City Schools administrator Michelle Tuite is the Honorable Mention winner in the fifth annual #WhoPowersYou Contest.
In addition to being nationally recognized, Ms. Tuite will be awarded $500 for her cause. Additional prizes were also awarded for Grand Prize, Second Place and Third Place.
Ms. Tuite was awarded Honorable Mention for connecting people in our community with meals and other essentials. A few years ago, Ms. Tuite launched a summer food program to feed students who don’t have access to breakfast and lunch meals they typically receive at school. When the COVID-19 pandemic occurred this year, Ms. Tuite pivoted that program to provide meals to families in need.
In addition to furnishing meals, Ms. Tuite provides clothing for people experiencing homelessness, created hygiene closets in local school buildings so kids without access to hygiene products can take shampoo and toothpaste without feeling embarrassed, and she advocates for mental health services in the community.
Touchstone Energy Cooperatives launched #WhoPowersYou in 2016 to celebrate the power of human connections.
The annual contest invites co-op members and employees across the country to nominate local heroes making a difference in their communities. An independent panel of judges selects the winners based upon the positive impact they make on their community and the creativity of the entry.
